We Loved it!!!!

As hard as this is to believe I have not one single critical word about this gorgeous house!! We have rented ALOT of houses with VRBO and air b n b ! ALOT and this is the top! It would be fun to see more art in the upstairs rooms and hallways. It was kind of surprising that there was so much art on the main floor and hardly any upstairs. That’s all I have to say .... ha

Relaxing week

Fantastic location-10 minutes from Perth and Smith Falls. Quick kayak or canoe access to Lower Rideau lake and Tay Canal and River. Very peaceful and relaxing setting despite its location between 2 canal locks since there was very little boating activity. The wrap around porch and air conditioning were a welcome relief from both the sun and 30 C plus temperatures. All amenities were as advertised and operational. Our entire family enjoyed their stay. Thanks to Robin for a smooth reservation process and after booking follow up and to Ian and the lock staff for being so courteous and helpful.

My family and friends had a great time spending in such a charming and historical cottage. The children are fascinated by the lock station. They enjoyed fishing, canoeing and swimming in the canal. But please don’t forget to bring a few bottles of mosquito repellent because the deer flies and mosquitoes attacked without mercy. Adults loved the local brewery crafted beers and bakery. The cottage is clean with modern installments except the dishwasher. The Park Canada staffs are very helpful beside the cottage. The location is great and easy to travel to other cities. If it’s not for the Covid restrictions, we may be able to visit other tourist attractions in this stay. Overall I will recommend to stay in this lovely cottage.

Wonderful Stay!

As expected, the Beveridges Lockmaster house was well equipped and sparkling clean. We rented a pontoon boat and had several days of leisurely touring up and down the Rideau and through the locks, Tay Marsh and into Perth. The lock staff were outstanding and most helpful in planning our trips. The veranda was a favourite hangout for our guests and ourselves with a quality BBQ that was used for some very tasty meals. Thanks to our National Parks folks for making this home available for all to enjoy! As usual, Robin answered all our questions and promptly resolved a minor issue. Highly recommend ... especially for families.

Beveridge Lockmaster House

A beautiful and peaceful stay. Wonderful wrap around verandah with view of the lock which was relatively quiet during the last week of June but fun to watch the activity when boats went through. Close to some good hiking and of course Perth and Smith Falls plus other lovely small towns. The house was well equipped and Ian the Lock Master always helpful in answering questions. A super and safe week away!

Amazing property and experience!

Accommodation was warm and welcoming in a heritage home updated with all the modern amenities needed (Wifi, A/C, washer/dryer). Immaculately clean, which was greatly appreciated considering the pandemic. Excellent customer service - Robin was quick to respond to any questions and always very helpful. The Lockmaster (Ian and crew) accommodated all requests with a smile and provided expert assistance while going through the locks. Very personable and friendly from start to finish of our visit! A great experience and we hope to return!

Beautiful Restoration

The Beveridges Lockmasters Cottage has been tastefully restored and is equipped with central air. An idyllic setting by the locks on the Tay. We spent hours on the wrap around porch watching the activity, paddled up the canal and had a very relaxing week. Lots to see in the area of Perth, Chasseys Locks and area.

Historic venue with modern conveniences

My family and I enjoyed a most pleasant and sunny week at Beveridges Lockmaster's House. The historic charm is maintained with the high ceilings, baseboards and wrap around porch mingled with A/C, stunning bathrooms, new kitchen and highlighted with restored period furniture, full dining room and pictures and prints of wildlife. The renovation team and decorators are to commended for the use of wood and tile throughout. We enjoyed the view of the locks and the daily comings and goings through the canal. The staff at the locks, were led by Ian and during our week Matt, Grace and Jordan. We were greeted every morning by Matt with a friendly hello and smile. The entire staff are great ambassadors for Parks Canada. We rented a pontoon boat for five days and appreciated the work and history behind Colonel By's brilliance on the Rideau Canal System. We meandered up the Tay Canal to Perth and were observed by a deer, loons, eastern kingbirds, the resident osprey and a scarlet tanager. We also went down to the Poonmalie Lock on the Lower Rideau and in to Big Rideau to the west. Our girls enjoyed jumping in to the cold lake in a deep bay. Our evenings were spent around a campfire. Robin was most helpful in booking the house and checked in by email to see if everything was fine. A great week of R & R at a most interesting location.

The house was great. It was beautifully appointed and the location was wonderful. We travelled to Perth by water and road. We visited Smith Falls, the Narrows and Westport by water. We went to Portland, Perth, Davis lock and Westport by land. I loved the unique dinner ware in the dining room. The blend of tradition and contemporary touches throughout made it so comfortable. The porch was a favourite spot. The lock staff was awesome. Special memories were made! Thank you Robin!
